Awstats Step by Step Installation

This isn’t a detailed guide in terms of a having an introduction. Working knowledge of ssh is required. Let me know if you need anything. I would be more than happy to help you out.

Installation
> wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/awstats/awstats-6.7.tar.gz
> tar -zxvf awstats-6.7.tar.gz
> mv awstats-6.7 awstats
> cd awstats/
> mv * ..
> cd ..
> cd wwwroot
> mv * ..
> cd ..
> rmdir wwwroot

Configuration
> cd cgi-bin
> cp awstats.model.conf awstats.domain.com.conf

1and1 & WordPress Jetpack

An avid user of Akismet and WordPress Stat meant that I would have to have WordPress Jetpack setup on my WordPress blog. The hitch? An unknown 404 site inaccessible error message.

Running on PHP Version 5.2.17, this definitely wasn’t a version problem. I checked out the WordPress forum and found this . The thread suggests that I need to get a higher version of PHP installed – but since the thread starter and myself are coming from the same hosting company, this isn’t the solution I’m looking for.

A breakdown of the problem suggests curl and fopen – both activated and which I confirmed via a PHP version check.

Further troubleshooting had me deactivating my .htaccess codes (Note: can break your site – not for the fainthearted.) Still Nada.

Contacting Jetpack support was going to be my last resort until I figured this could be because I had extensively customized my WordPress installation – which seems to have broken Jetpack.

The solution, reinstall your WordPress installation.

1. Login to your WordPress Admin Page.
2. Dashboard – Updates – Re-install Now.

This worked for me, let me know how it goes for you.

I just love Dropbox! The convenience of filesharing is almost similar to the luscious feel of that thing you do everyday that you like most. Well almost, because I have this post and that’s sharing love – in words.

Yes, half of what I mentioned above doesn’t make sense, and you don’t have to understand it really – the totality of it. That’s how love goes – right ?

A pink theme!

I’m using a pink theme and I cannot really say why. I tend to steer away from the those bubbly, girly, quirky colors not only out of personal distaste but because of plain genetics as well – but this theme however loses all that and instead allures you with the typographical beauty it offers – at least that’s how it goes for me.

And it has a cool picture of me on right sidebar . Coolness

Do you, uh… agree ?

I’ve yet switched to another theme – to Vigilance. The pink theme had a lot of corners to fix, something which I cannot work on together with some things I am busy with.
